Bristol Ferry Boats begin commuter service

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Apr 4, 2017

Hot coffee greeted the first commuters on board the 7.15am ferry from Temple Meads on the latest way to get to work in Bristol that comes with a guarantee you’ll never get stuck in traffic.

The debut departure of a new commuter service on Monday morning saw four members of Bristol Ferry Boats staff looking after two passengers on Matilda with their usual professionalism, good humour and bonhomie.

“We were toying with the idea of getting an ironing board on board,” one of the crew joked soon before Matilda set off towards the city centre.

Matilda arrived at the Cascade Steps just a few seconds after Emily which had started at the Pump House, and then it was on towards Hotwells with a view to brighten up any morning:

It was soon time for one commuter to get off at the Harbour Inlet, the most enjoyable commute in Bristol creating the perfect start to the day.

A single journey on the commuter ferry costs as little as £1.50, with ferries leaving Temple Meads and the Pump House at 7.15am, 7.55am and  8.35am. Evening services run from 4.20pm to 6.15pm.
