Bristol has some of the worst roads in UK
Bristol’ roads are among the worst in the UK according to a new study.
Potholes, congestion levels, pollution and dangerous driving have driven the city to the top of the list in a recent study by Compare the Market.
The study found that 79 per cent of Bristol’s roads were in need of repairs, but the city came behind London in terms of stress levels when driving, with 63 per cent of drivers finding driving in London stressful, compared to 41 per cent in Bristol.
is needed now More than ever
The study looked at congestion levels, road quality, and number of accidents in each city to determine which city was the worst city to drive in.
Bristol ranked third for stress and confusion drivers felt, with 41 per cent of drivers saying they found Bristol confusing to drive around, with 25 per cent citing the main reason as not knowing the roads well enough.
In April this year it was announced Bristol City Council would be allocating a £1m boost to fix the city’s potholes, and in September, Conservative councillors called for an urgent review into pothole repairs due to the poor condition of Bristol’s “crumbling” roads.
Councillors said far more cash needs to be spent on restoring and resurfacing the city’s road network.
Bristol24/7 approached the council for comment but is awaiting a response.
