Bristol to host inaugural Well Fest 2017

By Ellie Pipe  Thursday Aug 17, 2017

Young people of Bristol are invited to gather on College Green for a festival with a difference on Thursday, August 24.

Bringing free food, yoga, music and more to the centre of Bristol, the inaugural Well Fest 2017 will also provide access to a wealth of information for 11-25-year-olds in a bid to boost physical and mental health.

Hosted by Off The Record (OTR),  the unique event was dreamt up by the charity’s board of young advisers with the aim of bringing people all together in one place and arming them with plenty of tips and tricks for good wellbeing.

The theme is ‘When life gives you lemons’ and the festival takes place from 11am on GCSE results day, so the message is not to dwell if things haven’t gone your way, but head on down for a bit of a party.

“Looking at all aspects of wellbeing – from mental, physical and sexual health, to relationships and academic stress – the festival will host food, performance, information and support for young people,” says OTR’s Liam McKinnon.

“We want to bring together as many young people as possible into one space and let them know what OTR is and what we do as a charity.”

Bristol-based mental health charity Off The Record offers a free mental health support service for young people in the city

People from OTR’s projects, such as the LGBTQ+ support group, Freedom, The Resilience Lab that offers stress management workshops and Mentality will be on-hand to speak to anyone seeking information.

The Prince’s Trust, Bristol Drugs Project, Brook, LPW and 1625 Independent People will be among the many agencies who will set up camp on College Green to pass on any advice, information and tips as required.
