is needed now More than ever
The project aims to be inclusive and find ways to care for the community, particularly the elderly members of the community.
The project began after an elderly Muslim man in the local community passed away.
A spokesperson for British Beacon Mosque awards said the MASCAD project “represents a role model for communities across the country.
“Jamia Masjid’s MASCAD project serves as a beacon of compassion and inclusivity in order to ensure that no member of the community, especially the elderly, are left behind or isolated,” they said.
“Their success and impact demonstrate the importance of caring for elderly community members who may be at risk of disconnection.”
The mosque was also shortlisted for the ‘Best Women’s Service’, which “honours mosques working to support the spiritual, emotional and intellectual needs of women in the local community”.
The winner of the award will be announced on November 25.
“To be shortlisted for this prestigious award from amongst a very competitive category is a great honour and privilege,” said Shaukat Warraich, chief executive of Faith Associates.
“The nomination of this mosque by the community highlights their integral part in contributing to a thriving and cohesive society. Their hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed and can be a beacon for other aspiring mosques in the UK.”
