By Lowie Trevena  Thursday Aug 20, 2020

Bristol City Council has announced that some of the city’s best-loved museums will reopen in September 2020.

Following an enforced closure in March, M Shed, Bristol Archives and Bristol Museum & Art Gallery will reopen their doors to the public in mid-September.

M Shed and Bristol Archives will open their doors to the public again on Tuesday, September 8, with Bristol Museum & Art Gallery reopening a week later on Tuesday, September 15.

All three sites have undergone new coronavirus risk assessment and visitors will be limited at each venue.

“Many of Bristol’s cultural organisations were able to adapt during lockdown and deliver fantastic events and activities online, but there is nothing quite like experiencing real places, objects and stories in person,” says deputy mayor, Craig Cheney.

“Arts and culture play such a huge part of the city’s health, wellbeing and identity, and they will be an integral part of our recovery following the effects of Covid-19. The team is really looking forward to welcoming back visitors in a safe and enjoyable way.”
