Bristol named one of the best places in the world to visit virtually

By Martin Booth  Monday May 11, 2020

While we are currently unable to jump on a plane to visit far-flung destinations, we can still visit them digitally through our computer screens.

Rough Guides have compiled 12 of the best “virtual tourism” campaigns around the world – and Bristol is ranked at number three behind Grenada in the Caribbean and the Algarve in Portugal.

The Bristol from Home campaign from Visit Bristol has a collection of online visits and tours including a Banksy street art trail, as well as games and activities to do while on lockdown including designing a new hat for Brunel.

Visit Bristol marketing manager, Jon Chamberlain, said: “Bristol From Home is a reflection of the creative and open city that we love and is being added to all the time.

“Whilst we can’t welcome visitors in person just yet we are loving sharing all the creative ways that we can stay in touch, from ‘paying it forward’ to a Bristol lockdown bingo game.

“Our aim is to bring a bit of the city into people’s living rooms.”
