Bristol named one of the best European cities to visit in 2019
Bristol has been revealed as one of “the most happening” European destinations for 2019 by the Independent.
The city joins the likes of Minsk, Rotterdam and Venice on the list of 10 cities to visit this year, exactly 12 months since the New York Times named Bristol one of the best places to visit in the world in 2018.
At the end of 2018, Bristol also won the Rising Star Award at the National Geographic Traveller Reader Awards.

This latest accolade was given for a city described as having “simply so much lined up for 2019”.
Highlights include the opening of inland surfing lake The Wave, brown bears being introduced to Wild Place Project, the arrival of The Royal Photographic Society at the Paintworks, the 30th birthday of Wallace & Gromit and the 50th anniversary of Concorde’s maiden flight.

Artist Residence are due to open their first Bristol hotel in March
This being a travel feature, the opening of boutique hotel Artist Residence in a former boot factory on one corner of Portland Square in St Paul’s was also highlighted as a reason to visit our city.
The full list of ten cities chosen by the Independent were Minsk, Rotterdam, Sitges, Arles, Sarajevo, Rome, Disneyland Paris, Belgrade, Venice and Bristol.
