Bristol Photo Festival announces Bristol24/7 as local media partner

Bristol Photo Festival will take place every other year with commissions and collaborations taking place year-round, culminating in a series of exhibitions – the first of which will take place in spring 2021.

Thursday, June 25 sees the launch of the festival’s website and beginning of a media partnership with Bristol24/7.

Bristol24/7 will be supporting the new festival as local media partners and the Guardian will be the national media partners.

Bristol24/7 will spreading the word about the festival’s community programmes and releasing exclusive information about the spring 2021 exhibitions.

Already planned are interviews with those taking part in the Growing Spaces project, as well as supporting the photography exhibitions, with much more still in the pipeline.

“With the Bristol Photo Festival we wanted to create a festival for the city rather than simply in the city,” says artistic director Tracy Marshall.

“We wanted the festival to be a year-round entity – supporting local talent, offering ongoing education and engagement opportunities, commissioning new work underpinned by representing the city, and drawing from knowledge and expertise already in Bristol – as well as bringing international artists, exhibitions and audiences to the city for the specific festival weeks in spring 2021.

“The city of Bristol has a fantastic range of arts venues and the festival aims to strengthen the ties and relationships between them so we can hopefully collaborate more closely and creatively as the festival grows and evolves in future years.”

The website goes live on Thursday, June 25 and a programme for the 2021 exhibition will be released at the end of 2020. Bristol24/7 will be reporting on the Bristol Photo Festival and its projects throughout the year.
