Bristol Pound to launch crowdfunder campaign to help secure its future
In the seven years since the launch of Bristol’s local currency, finance and technology have leapt forward.
The Bristol Pound needs to adapt to keep delivering for its members, to bring more individuals and businesses into its eco-system, and to keep growing its positive impact in the city.

Bristol24/7 relies on your support to fund our independent journalism and social impact projects. Become a member and enjoy exclusive perks from just £5 per month.

They have already taken the first steps to achieving this by removing reliance on transaction fees and
replacing that revenue stream with a wide array of services to help local businesses.
But the truly transformational work is yet to come and to achieve their goals, the Bristol Pound is launching a crowdfunding campaign.
“We have always felt that the Bristol Pound reflects the independence and artistic creativity of Bristol, and we want to maintain that whilst developing a new approach which better meets the needs of our individual and business members” said Diana Finch of the Bristol Pound.
“We’ve relied heavily on grants to get us where we are today, and now we are on a journey towards self-reliance. This crowdfunding campaign will help us significantly on that journey.”
The crowdfunding campaign will be running on Bristol-based reward crowdfunding site
Fundsurfer, with people can register their interest already at bristolpound.org/crowdfunder.
The rewards available to all those that contribute range from mugs featuring designs from the Bristol Pounds to a flight for two in a hot air balloon courtesy of Destination Bristol.
