At-Bristol reveals Curious new name
At-Bristol will be transforming into We The Curious next month, with the science centre’s new name marking a new direction and intention to create “a culture of curiosity”.
A complete redevelopment of the ground floor will see the creation of “a playful, inclusive, collaborative space” with the first major exhibition driven entirely by Bristol’s curiosity.
We The Curious will hope to unite science and art, with the building’s change being funded by a £3m award from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Wellcome’s Inspiring Science Fund.
is needed now More than ever
A new open plan entrance foyer will work as a public space which functions as a place to gather questions and ideas from visitors that will gradually inform the content of the new exhibition space.
New experiences and spaces ready for 2019 will include a live research lab, an interactive experience exploring scientific curiosity which will be visible both inside and outside the building, and new personalised digital technology throughout the centre.
We The Curious CEO Phil Winfield said: “Curiosity is a driver for exploration and learning, and curiosity is at the heart of creativity. If we can inspire curiosity our visitors are much more likely to continue their exploration beyond our walls.
“Thanks to the hard work of our team, the continued support of our visitors, and the funds granted to us by BEIS and Wellcome, At-Bristol have a rare and unique opportunity to inspire people to join us on a mission to increase curiosity in Bristol, the UK and beyond, under our new name, We The Curious.”
