Bristol named one of the UK’s coolest cities

By Ella Wills  Friday Feb 5, 2016

Bristol has been ranked as one of the top five coolest cities to live in the UK.

Research carried out by Web Blinds takes into account student population, the number of bars and art galleries per 10, 000 people, and the average cost of buying a flat.

An infographic shows the figures for Bristol

Bristol is a strong contender for the highest number of bars and art galleries – coming in a close second place with 20 bars per 10,000 people against Manchester’s 21, and 1.9 art galleries per 10,000 behind Brighton’s 3.4.

A younger population scored more highly in the study. Bristol falls slightly short behind other top five cities, Manchester, Brighton, Southampton and Nottingham, for age demographic and student population.

While young people make up 45 per cent of Bristol’s population, this was not quite enough to beat Manchester’s 51 per cent.
