Bristol Uni gain outline planning permission for new campus
Cafes and shops as well as walkways and cycling routes will all be open to the public at the University of Bristol’s new campus next to Temple Meads.
Since they were first revealed, the university has revised its initial proposals for the £300m campus, including reducing the height and changing the layout of the proposed student accommodation buildings on Arena Island, which range from 12 to 21 storeys, as well as altering the layout of buildings on the Cattle Market Road site.
Outline planning permission has now been granted for the new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, a seven-acre site which spans the derelict former sorting office and part of Arena Island.

The campus, which hopes to open in 2021, will host 3,000 students, 800 staff, and accommodation on site for up to 1,500 undergraduates and postgraduates.
