Bristol Wood Recycling Project reveal new home

By Bristol24/7  Friday Jan 26, 2018

After a period of uncertainty for Bristol Wood Recycling, the organisation is set to move into a new home in early February at William Street in St Philip’s, close to the household waste recycling centre.

It will bring to an end 14 years of being in their current location on Cattle Market Road, where building work will soon start to transform the land next to Temple Meads into a new campus for the University of Bristol including the demolition of the derelict former sorting office.

The project’s last day of trading at Cattle Market Road will be on Saturday, January 27, with their new William Street base (on the same road as Good Chemistry brewery) open to trade and the public on Friday, February 2.

Bristol Wood Recycling Project co-director Kaleb Debbage said “We’re very excited about William Street and enormously grateful to all our volunteers, old and new, whose enthusiasm and dedication is enabling us to move seamlessly.

“Having dared to hope for a central location it’s quite incredible that we’ll be in and trading so immediately. Our collections service is uninterrupted, and we’re already taking workshop orders.”

There is currently a huge volunteer effort going on at Cattle Market Road to clear the site and ensure that current landlords, Bristol City Council, have vacant possession by Monday, February 5.

Lots of stock is being sold even cheaper than usual, and the old timber shed – known as the ‘ark’ – is also for sale.
