Bristol24/7 to host metro mayoral hustings
Candidates for the upcoming metro mayoral election will be visiting Bristol24/7‘s Paintworks HQ to talk about the issues that really matter to Bristolians.
The new mayor will be elected on May 4. They will preside over new spending powers for transport, housing and education for the Greater Bristol area, which includes Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset and South Gloucestershire councils.
All three councils voted to adopt a new mayor to establish the West of England Combined Authority.

The five candidates are as follows:
Darren Hall, Green
Hall managed Bristol’s Green Capital partnership, and was the Green parliamentary candidate for Bristol West in 2015.
Aaron Warren Foot, UK Independence Party (UKIP)
Foot ran as a candidate in last year’s Police and Crime Commissioner election.
John Savage, Independent
The independent candidate is a former high sheriff of Bristol, and is Chairman of University Hospitals Bristol.
Lesley Mansell, Labour
The Radstock-based parish councillor works as an NHS equality and diversity manager.
Stephen Williams, Liberal Democrat
Williams was MP for Bristol West from 2005 to 2015.
Tim Bowles, Conservative
Bowles is a councillor in Winterbourne, South Gloucestershire.
