#BristolCharityAdvent day 12: The Marmalade Trust
The Marmalade Trust is dedicated to tackling loneliness in vulnerable members of our society.
With the support of volunteers, businesses and community partners, the charity provides Christmas Day lunches in local venues for people in Bristol and South Gloucestershire who would otherwise be on their own, as well as helping to raise awareness of loneliness and how it impacts people’s lives everyday.
is needed now More than ever
Marmalade Trust was founded by occupational therapist Amy Perrin in 2013.
Having worked as a health professional and volunteered for more than 20 years, she was well aware of how tough social isolation and loneliness can be.
In 2013, three of the older people she volunteered with, told Amy they were going to be spending Christmas Day alone. She attempted to find them somewhere to go, and became aware of the great shortage of Christmas Day events running in Bristol, so decided to take them out herself.

Today, Marmalade Trust works closely with local organisations to provide all of their guests with information about social activities happening throughout the year.
Their Christmas Day lunches are hosted at local pubs and restaurants and do not exclude people by age, last year extending the invite to several people with disabilities who would also have been on their own.
