Bristolians are spoilt for takeaway choice
Arguably, pizza is the ultimate takeaway food. It’s undeniable association with home comforts and endless toppings makes it the perfect Friday night feast. Most of the nation is in agreement – recent research saw one in five Brits name pizza as their top takeout treat, and Friday as the top day to order, with most taking the opportunity to enjoy it with family and friends 1 .
Trying to pick just one of Bristol’s many takeaway options is a notoriously difficult decision for locals, especially if you have multiple mouths to feed. But Deliveroo is here to help make that decision a little less family feud, and more of a no-brainer.
is needed now More than ever
Partnering with Upfest, Europe’s largest street art festival, Deliveroo is putting some of Bristol’s favourite independent restaurants in the limelight – making that all important Friday night choice just a little easier.
With the help of a food-centric mural in the city centre and a selection of independently created artworks based on 10 of Bristol’s best restaurants, Deliveroo is pulling out all the stops. And one of these celebrated restaurants is offering Pizza straight from Naples…
Slice and deliver: Pizza Workshop
Pizza Workshop is somewhat of a Bristol institution. Known for the use of its sourdough starter (an active colony of wild yeast and good bacteria cultivated to make baked goods rise), the restaurant duo started with its flagship store on North Street in 2015. Then Head Chef Peppe returned home to Naples and met his friend and master pizza chef, Eduardo Ore.
The purpose of that journey? To bring back some ‘dodo’ – his Grandfather’s sourdough starter. This reportedly 70 year old starter has catapulted the restaurant to the top ranks of Bristol’s pizza choices. Chef Peppe successfully brought half a kilo of the starter back in his suitcase, and so Pizza Workshop was born.
Get to know the creator: Keith Hopwell
Part of this collaboration with Upfest included an independently curated artwork from a local artist. Pizza Workshop’s artwork has come from Bristol based illustrator and street artist Keith Hopwell, better known as SPZero.
His art features crisp and clean lines, but in a classic graffiti style to amplify his characters’ appearances.
Talking about his design, he said: “I wanted to highlight the restaurant’s fresh yet simple ingredients in this artwork, which combined with the bright colours makes the pizza look irresistible.”
“Good food is at the heart of this piece, in the same way it is in Pizza Workshop’s restaurants.’
Keith’s illustration of Pizza Workshop can now be seen in and around Bristol’s streets, so keep your eyes peeled!
