Bristol’s fast food addiction revealed
There are almost 90 fast food outlets in the centre of Bristol, according to new data which shows Bristol as the fast food capital of the South West.
The Public Health England analysis shows that there are 3,932 takeaways in total across the region, ranging from 23 in Purbeck to 464 in Bristol.
The number of fast food outlets is also ranked by ward. The former Cabot ward has the highest, with 87, while Whitchurch Park has just two. Lawrence Hill is second, with 44, while Clifton has seven.
is needed now More than ever
Professor Debra Lapthorne from Public Health England South West said: “Just over a third of children in the South West are overweight or obese by the time they leave primary school.
“All councils in the South West have plans to tackle childhood obesity and are putting these into action. But we need to do more and faster. Our environment makes it harder for families to make healthy choices. We want all residents to tell us what changes they think will help children and families lead healthier lives.”
