Cabot Primary School’s good Ofsted a ‘testament to the wider St Paul’s community’
A primary school in St Paul’s where 89 per cent of children have English as an additional language is celebrating after retaining its ‘good’ rating from Ofsted inspectors.
Cabot Primary School on Halston Drive has been praised for having “high aspirations for pupils” and “prioritising pupils’ welfare and core reading skills”.
Headteacher Tom Burton said: “The school has worked hard to continually improve the opportunities for all children in the school and it is wonderful to have this recognised by the recent inspection.”

The Ofsted inspection report (read the letter in full here) said that the school’s curriculum “is rich in experiences which motivate pupils to concentrate well and support them to build their knowledge effectively”.
It added: “Teachers encourage pupils to play their part and develop the attributes they need to make a valuable contribution to society.”
The report identifies that the school has been particularly successful in supporting more able learners reach their full potential, with over the past three years, a greater proportion of Year 6 pupils reaching the highest standards than have pupils nationally.
Burton added: “We are incredibly pleased with this recognition from Ofsted. It is testament, primarily, to the hard work of our staff and pupils throughout the school together with the support from our parents, governors and wider St Paul’s community.”
