‘Significant milestone’ for Carriageworks
A “significant milestone” has been reached in the long running development of the Carriageworks and Westmoreland House in Stokes Croft.
Redevelopment plans, which include 112 new homes, an entrance to an open courtyard from Ashley Road and an increase in affordable houses to 10 per cent were approved by Bristol City Councillors in October.
However, it has taken until now for an agreement to be reached on who pays for access and Section 106 money.
is needed now More than ever
Bristol24/7 understands that an agreement has now been reached and planning permission has now been formally approved.
The Carriageworks Action Group announced the news on its website: “We just heard yesterday that the S.106 Agreement has finally been signed and sealed and consequently the planning permission has been formally granted to Fifth Capital.
“This should open the way for the purchase of the site from Comer Homes and for redevelopment of the site to begin.”
Lori Streich, chair of Carriageworks Action Group told Bristol24/7: “Carriageworks Action Group is pleased that this significant milestone has been reached. It clears the way for Fifth Capital, the developer, to complete their purchase of the site. They can then do all the detailed planning needed to start work, hopefully in the autumn.
“In the meantime, we will continue to liaise with Marc Pennick of Fifth Capital to ensure that the local community gets the best possible result from the scheme in line with the Community Vision.”
Bristol24/7 are awaiting a statement from Fifth Capital.
