Cathedral bell to ring every day throughout second lockdown
Bristol Cathedral will ring a bell at 6pm every evening for the duration of England’s national lockdown.
It follows an invitation from the archbishops of Canterbury and York, and will act as a call to prayer for Christians across the country, with cathedrals and churches invited to take part .
Prayers will be said for for a specific area each day including the NHS and frontline workers, the bereaved, those struggling with physical and mental ill health, and for children and young people.
is needed now More than ever
The Dean of Bristol, Mandy Ford, said that the cathedral community is “delighted” to share in this national call to prayer.
She said: “The 6pm bell is a simple but powerful reminder of the importance of praying together even when we cannot gather for worship.
“When we pray we remember that we are not alone, that God is with us in these challenging times.”
