10 years of Tobacco Factory market
The Tobacco Factory Sunday market is celebrating its 10th birthday today.
For the first time, the market is extending into Raleigh Road, with stalls now due to appear in the street on the first Sunday of every month, and on special occasions such as Christmas and Easter.
Launched in 2004, the Tobacco Factory market was originally created as part of Sustainable Southville’s Local Food Week and is now one of Bristol’s biggest and longest established markets.
is needed now More than ever
It was initially monthly and then became weekly in September 2007.
“It has been a real pleasure to see the market grow over the years, and to see so many people visiting every Sunday – from the local area and beyond,” says market manager David Pyne.
“We’re now at the beginning of a new and exciting time for the market as we begin the regular extension of the market into Raleigh Road.”
