Celebration of trailblazing women at Ashton Gate
A century of women’s ambition, achievements and vision will be celebrated at Ashton Gate Stadium.
The Trailblazing Women event on Thursday, February 1 will feature key speakers from people at the top of their field with the aim of inspiring future generations and provide networking opportunities.
It is 100 years since women were finally granted the right to vote, following a long campaign for suffrage, and this sparked a wave of progress that continues to this day.
The brainchild of Philippa Constable (main picture), Trailblazing Women will showcase pioneering work spanning the last 10 decades as part of Bristol’s Centenary City celebrations being held throughout 2018.
Constable, the founder of Women Mean Biz and We Mean Biz, says: “We are proud to be joining forces for the event.
“During the day we will hear from modern day female achievers who are now inspiring the next generation.”

Lucienne Boyce
Historian and author of The Bristol Suffragettes Lucienne Boyce, CEO of Penny Brohn Laura Kerby, professor of biomedical science at UWE Bristol Myra Conway, and CEO of Nameless Media Group, Jaya Chakrabarti MBE will be among the key speakers on the day.
