Child left with potentially life-threatening injuries after motorbike hit and run

A six-year-old child has been left with potentially life-threatening injuries after being involved in a hit and run incident with a motorbike.

The collision took place just after 6pm on Saturday on Wade Street, near Cabot Circus.

The child was taken to hospital and is in a critical but stable condition. Their next of kin is being supported by Avon and Somerset police force‘s specialist family liaison officers.

The incident happened near Wade Street’s junctions with Wellington Road and River Street.

It is believed the person riding the motorbike and their passenger were both wearing helmets.

They failed to stop following the crash.

An arrest has been made in connection to the incident and a man is being held in police custody.

Wade Street was closed until around 11pm between the A420, Lawfords Gate and the A4032, Newfoundland Circus while collision investigators examined the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
