Clifton Suspension Bridge closed to traffic
Clifton Suspension Bridge will be closed to traffic and cyclists on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.30am to 4pm for maintenance work.
Pedestrians will still be able to use the bridge, but cyclists will have to dismount and walk across the bridge.
A diversion route will be signed, using Bridge Valley Road, Brunel Way and Rownham Hill.
is needed now More than ever
Bridge master David Anderson said: “The closures are necessary to allow the completion of the restoration works to the Clifton tower, which have been ongoing through the summer. The masonry has been cleaned and repointed, and repairs carried out to the roof structure, the drainage and the access ladders.
“The final stage is the removal of the scaffolding where it spans across the road.”
