Clifton Suspension Bridge to close for 5 days

By Oliver David Lane  Thursday Sep 3, 2015

Commuters are being advised that the Clifton Suspension Bridge will only be allowing pedestrians to cross for five days from September 21-25. This is due to maintenance work taking place on the roadway.

The closure will only take place during the day, as drivers will still be able to cross between 4pm-9.30am in the morning, allowing for most rush hour traffic.

Mounted cyclists will be unable to cross due to a lack of space. The bridge’s website states “cyclists may dismount and walk across the bridge. However as only one narrow footway will be open they are requested to avoid using the bridge if possible.”

Signs will divert motorists and cyclists to an alternative route that uses Bridge Valley Road, Brunel Way and A369 Rownham Hill.
