Colston Hall close in on £48.8m fundraising target
New figures released by Colston Hall show that plans for a total transformation of the venue are nearing realisation. The latest donation of £5m from the West of England Combined Joint Committee has brought the total raised to £40.9m, of a £48.8m target.
The venue will close its doors in June 2018 to begin work on huge transformations of the main auditorium, historic foyer and cellars. The team at Colston Hall say the repairs and renovations are necessary to bring the venue up to world-class standards, and when it reopens it will set new national standards for music inclusivity. When it reopens in 2020, the hall will also have a new name.
