Colston Hall first out of blocks to launch redevelopment campaign

Three major arts organiations in Bristol are launching redevelopment fundraising appeals this year with the hope of raising many millions of pounds.

As first reported on Bristol Culture last month, the Colston Hall are first out of the blocks and have now officially launched their £45m campaign called Thank You for the Music.

This includes the remodelling of the existing main auditorium, redeveloping the second hall and opening up the cellars as a new performance space.

Up Park Street, St George’s hope to create new entrances, a new cafe/bar, ew foyer and cloakroom/ toilet provision, improved back stage facilities for artists and staff, new workshop and education spaces, new gallery spacen and restoration and opening up of the 19th century gardens.

And last but by no means least, the Bristol Old Vic. With the historic Georgian auditorium now refurbished, attention now turns to to the front of house, with a new foyer, a reinvigorated Coopers’ Hall and a brand new studio theatre.
