Colston’s statue lifted out of the docks
He remained on his plinth on the centre for 125 years, took a few minutes to topple on Sunday and spent four days underwater in the Floating Harbour.
Early on Thursday morning, the statue of Edward Colston was fished out of the docks by a team which included divers in the water, reappearing with a bicycle tyre hooked around its coat.
Amateur photographer Rob Browne was walking by the docks and was able to record the statue emerged from the murky depths.
He said: “I wasn’t able to see the statue come down but I was pleased to be able to capture the moment of it coming back up.
“Democracy didn’t work so the people spoke and pulled it down on Sunday. I’m now happy that it can go into a museum where it belongs.”
