Community pledges to restore east Bristol play park
A fundraiser has been organised to restore the John Deasy play area in St. George.
Community organisers say that the much-loved playground is aged and worn, with families and children queuing to use facilities due to lack of equipment.
The play area also has poor surfacing and poor accessibility, with no equipment for children aged above six years.

While Bristol City Council has maintained the play area, the fundraiser claims that old play equipment has not been replaced or updated to suit families’ needs.
The fundraiser plans to raise a total of £257,000 to replace and renew the existing equipment, as well as to resurface the play area.
So far, they have raised £80,000, and are aiming to raise a further £50,000 by the end of this year.
On July 2, community organisers will also be hosting a picnic in the park to raise funds for the project.
