TCV are seeking a Bristol based Project Officer on maternity cover.

Based at The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) office at the Create Centre, Smeaton Road, Bristol, BS1 6XN. The post holder should expect to work throughout Bristol and further afield in parts of Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.
is needed now More than ever
This role, offered at 35 hours per week, involves managing individuals and projects, to support local people to deal with local environmental concerns within their own communities. This includes promoting a healthy lifestyle and recruiting and supporting volunteers, along with providing advice and training to help individuals and groups implement their own projects.
The post holder will support the Operations Leader (England West) in delivering all aspects of TCV’s work in Bristol, as well as parts of the adjacent counties too.
TCV has been active in Bristol for many years, working in partnership with many landowners and others to manage the area’s green spaces, as well as supporting a network of local community groups to do so too. The post-holder will be expected to continue to deliver and develop this work.
More specifically, the post holder’s role will include, but not limited to:
- Setting up and running two/three days of practical conservation volunteering projects each week, mainly by the Bristol Conservation Volunteers group. (In the last 12 months this involved around 109 different people, working on 50 sites and delivering 1,371 work days.)
- Supporting TCV’s network of independent community groups to deliver their own projects, through giving them advice and support.
- Managing three key volunteers/volunteer project leaders.
- Managing TCV’s local resources, including the office, tool store and minibus.
- Managing the local budget; (expected to be around £60,000 in 2016-2017).
- Building TCV’s local business, by actively engaging with new groups, land managers and local authorities in the area.
- Using online and offline materials to promote TCV’s work to new partners and individuals, to ensure a stable programme of projects and a sufficient numbers of volunteers to deliver them.
This post is being offered at 35 hours a week. We currently expect it to last until the end of September 2017. However, if the person on maternity leave wishes to return to work earlier, the post could be terminated with eight weeks’ notice. TCV supports a flexible approach to determining the actual days and hours worked by the post holder, although he/she will be expected to remain flexible with his/her work days, as delivery times may vary from week to week and may include significant weekend and evening work. Some work sites can be an hour or more away from the office, so on the days TCV run volunteer projects, these can often be quite long. Time off in lieu is given for these.
Interviews will be held on 25 July 2016. Please note, TCV will not be able to offer any alternative dates.
