There will be a minute’s silence at 11am this morning to remember the key workers who have died with coronavirus.
More than 100 NHS and care staff have died with the virus, as have many transport and other key workers.

Technicians at Bristol Robotics Laboratory are making protective visors for Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust staff using laser cutting technology.
The team also plan to expand production and also manufacture surgical mask straps, which help prevent masks rubbing against the ears of clinical staff.

Staff and volunteers at the Clifton Suspension Bridge have launched an appeal to ensure the bridge can be maintained during the pandemic.

Mayor Marvin Rees updates people on coronavirus in Bristol.
Council-run cemeteries and crematoriums will open again from Thursday, April 30. The sites will be open between 4pm-8pm on weekdays and 10am-6pm on weekends.
He also updates that there are 323 spaces in hotels for rough sleepers and people who are homeless and that the council are looking at securing long term options, which includes move-on accommodation.

The UK observes a minute silence to remember key workers who have died from coronavirus.

Rob Porter, who lives at Paintworks in south Bristol, has started weekly themed nights and a local supermarket in response to the pandemic.
“Each Thursday for past four weeks, we have reached out to pop ups and breweries to create unique theme nights, ” says Rob. “We’ve had curry and beer, fish and chips, pizza and beer and burritos.”

“It’s all local food and drink, and we’re helping these guys pay their costs while having an amazing night,” he adds. “We are taking 100 orders of food and drink each week. A fun challenge, and has so far provided £5,000 income to local businesses.
“The logistics are challenging on top of day jobs but the community spirit amazing.”
