Windmill Hill City Farm is appealing for donations so that it can continue to supports its animals and staff.

“As you can imagine the impact Covid-19 has had on the farm has been immense,” says Simone Dougall, who works at the farm in south Bristol. “Built by the local community back in 1976, the farm has had some rocky times but has stood side-by-side with local people throughout , to come back stronger each time.

The farm relies on the public using its services to fund it, with  90 per cent of income coming from its cafe, room hire, school visits, events and the nursery. This has all been lost over the last few months.”

To protect the farm going forward, staff and volunteers are asking people to become regular donators by going to www.windmillhillcityfarm.org.uk/get-involved/donations

Simone says: “If you can afford it, a regular monthly donation, even a small amount, will make a big difference to the farm and its future.”

2.05pm
First Bus has updated its app so that people can see not only the location of their next bus but also its available capacity.

Going live this week, the app update will show customers a bus icon on a map depicting the live location and available capacity of each vehicle.

To further support social distancing, and in addition to passenger counting, seats on each bus are now clearly marked indicating where customers should sit.

“As capacity onboard is reduced due to social distancing, we have increased the number of buses on selected routes,” explains First West of England managing director James Freeman.

“However, we expect there will still be occasions when customers may not be able to board their intended journey due to capacity levels being reached.

“We advise those who cannot avoid public transport to plan their journeys ahead and this new app facility will help customers to avoid busier periods by checking the spaces on each bus.”

1.42pm
Westonbirt Arboretum will be reopening to the public tomorrow.

To protect visitors, staff, volunteers and the local community, the arboretum is limiting the number of people on site through a  new booking system.

For the foreseeable future, visitors and members of the Friends of Westonbirt Arboretum will need to pre-book their tickets online before they come to site.

When booking tickets, visitors will be asked to select an arrival time slot. Time slots will be every 20-mins, between 9am – 4:20pm every-day, with final entry at 4:40pm.

Once in the arboretum visitors can stay for as long as they like, until 5pm.
