By Bristol24/7  Thursday Aug 12, 2021

A rare opportunity to join the team at Bristol24/7 has become available for a journalist who wants to be at the heart of our city’s arts and culture scene.

Covering music, theatre, art, comedy, books, clubs, dance, circus and more, the successful candidate will be first to know what’s going on in Bristol.

You will have a passion for shining a light on new emerging talent, as well as covering bigger events and venues.

The freelance position will initially be for two days a week but we are hoping there will be scope to increase this as things return to ‘normal’ across the sector.

Previous experience is less important than a meticulous eye for detail, a flair for writing, being able to organise a busy workload and manage a team of reviewers.

Bristol24/7 is an independent publication created by a small team of people who really care about Bristol.

Arts coverage is a vital part of what we do and we are looking for someone to revitalise our culture section at an important time as the sector seeks to rebuild in the wake of the pandemic.

Essential qualities:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Bristol’s varied culture scene
  • Ability to look after your own workload and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
  • A keen eye for detail and a proactive attitude

Desirable qualities:

  • Experience of using WordPress and Mailchimp
  • Portfolio of published work
  • Events experience

Bristol24/7 pays a standard day rate of £80. This will be the starting rate for this role.

If you would like to be considered for the role of Bristol24/7 Culture Editor, please send a CV and a cover letter (no more than one side of A4) stating why you would like the job and how you meet the criteria to ellie@bristol247.com. Please include links to previous work if relevant.

The closing date to apply for the role is midday on August 27 2021
