Couple put a ring on it at St Paul’s carnival
St Paul’s Carnival 2023 was an extra special weekend for one Bristol couple.
Anya Palitsina and Charlie Ross shared their fifth anniversary on Saturday. To mark the occasion, Charlie surprised his girlfriend with a proposal she wasn’t expecting.
The couple’s friend, Sarah Bronco told Bristol24/7: “Charlie told us all he was going to do it, so we all brought confetti along and she had no idea.

“We all knew it was coming but he didn’t do it until about eight or nine, so we all thought it wasn’t going to happen.”

Charlie and Anya met while working at the BRI together, and Charlie’s decision to propose on Saturday was significant for his fiancé.
“Anya just loves St Paul’s, she’s a proper party girl, she loves to party, and he thought it would be the perfect time,” Sarah said.
“She was in shock, got a bit teary eyed and then the DJ announced she had said yes, and everyone came to congratulate them which was really sweet.”
St Paul’s Carnival returned to Bristol after four years and saw the city centre and Stokes Croft filled with sound systems, partygoers and floats celebrating the Caribbean community.
