Court date over Easton shooting

By Bristol24/7  Tuesday May 26, 2015

A man charged with a shooting in Easton at the weekend has been remanded in custody to appear at Bristol Crown Court next month.

Kayode Stephens, 32, of Brigstocke Road, St Paul’s, is accused of attempted murder over an incident which took place at the Jolly Roger pub on All Hallows Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police are connecting the incident with an attempted robbery, also involving a firearm, on St Mark’s Road three hours earlier.

The force increased patrols in Easton over the weekend, while St Mark’s Road and All Hallow’s Road were both closed on Saturday.

The attempted robbery took place at 11pm when a lone man was approached by two men, an “altercation” followed and the men left in a silver car.

At 2am on Saturday morning a man was allegedly shot twice at the Jolly Roger, leaving him with “life changing” injuries. Police believe the incident may have been filmed on a mobile phone.

Police stopped a car on the second junction of the M32 shortly after the incident and arrested three people.

Stephens appeared in magistrates’ court yesterday, but his case was sent to Bristol Crown Court for June 18.
