Curse of Queen’s Road continues

It may have one of the highest footfalls in town but the curse of the stretch of Queen’s Road opposite Browns continues with the closing in quick succession of Ground Up cafe and Ladbrokes.

The bookmakers only opened earlier this year, while Ground Up lasted less than 18 months in what used to be a Caffe Gusto.

The closures are just the latest in a long list of businesses that have tried and failed to make a go of this most difficult of Bristol locations.

The latest to try will be Berkeley Barbers in the former Ground Up, as Kiri’s at Clifton Down moves a mile or so down the road with a change of name and hopefully a bit more staying power than what has gone before in this sorry stretch of real estate.
