Day rider bus ticket to return to £4
Less than a year after the price of First’s day rider bus ticket was increased from £4 to £4.40, it will return to its original cost on Sunday.
There was public outcry at the time of the fare rise, which itself was announced only a year after newly negotiated fares came into place following a campaign led by Daniel Farr.
The ticket – officially known as the Inner Zone Day Ticket – provides unlimited travel across Bristol’s inner zone which covers most of the city. The new price will be £4 for adults, £2.80 for students and young people, and £2 for children.
is needed now More than ever
First West of England managing director James Freeman said: “We are announcing this fare reduction because our passenger numbers have continued to rise as bus travel in Bristol has never been more popular.”
Some services now have up to 70,000 more customers using the bus each month compared to this time two years ago.
Freeman also said that making the ticket £4 again will also speed up boarding times as it makes it easier for customers to have the right change.
