Debbonaire and Jones both promoted to shadow cabinet
Two Bristol MPs are now members of Keir Starmer’s shadow cabinet following the Labour leader’s latest reshuffle.
Thangam Debbonaire has been appointed shadow secretary of state for culture, media & sport; and Darren Jones has been appointed shadow chief secretary to the treasury.
Former professional cellist Debbonaire is MP for Bristol West and former solicitor Jones is MP for Bristol North West.

Debbonnaire had been the shadow leader of the House of Commons since May 2021, and served as the shadow secretary of state for housing from 2020 to 2021.
Jones had widelybeen tipped for a position in the shadow cabinet after serving as the chair of the house of commons business and trade select committee since 2020, and regularly putting some of the UK’s biggest business names on the ropes in committee scenes which went viral.
