Dead rat at Sea Mills takeaway final straw for disgusted resident
Warning: this article contains some disturbing images
“Oh @Dominos_UK you are really excelling yourselves now,” read the sarcastic tweet of a Sea Mills resident, appalled to find a dead rat lying next to pizza pallets outside his local branch.
Chris Pollitt said he resorted to highlighting the issue on social media following a number of incidents at the Domino’s on Trymwood Parade that he says is “making his life hell”.

Seeing the dead rat, still oozing blood, lying just outside the premises was the final straw for Chris, who says he has tried to complain to Domino’s on numerous occasions but did not get anywhere.
The pizza chain has now responded, saying it is concerned to hear of the allegations and claiming that a pest control expert was immediately contacted when the store manager was notified about the rat. It added that the premises has a five-star hygiene rating.
Chris said: “I’ve had numerous run-ins with them, and frankly they’re making life hell. The staff are rude, they fill the residents car park beyond capacity – there are six spaces and yet regularly 11 or 12 cars in there.
“Every time I get the same ‘can you contact us’ blurb from them on Twitter, and every time I get an email or two, then ignored. It’s ridiculous. The rats have got up to the first floor, so now they are in the floor under my lounge. In a first floor flat. You can hear them chewing through the concrete.”

Chris was also unimpressed with the way pizza boxes are stored
Responding to the complaints, Domino’s spokeswoman Louise Butler said: “We were concerned to hear these allegations and urge the resident to get in touch. When we were notified a rat had been found outside the premises, our store, which has a five star hygiene rating, immediately consulted a pest control expert.
“Our guidance to stores states that food should never be placed on the floor and once collected, all empty trays are inspected and thoroughly sanitised before their next use.
“On one lone occasion, a colleague was ill and went home straight afterwards.
“Store colleagues, who are expected to be courteous at all times do use the car park for brief periods as permitted in our lease; however, we’ll take this opportunity to provide refresher training on the importance of being polite.”
