Double decker bus goes up in flames

By Martin Booth  Monday Nov 27, 2023

Flames leapt out of a bus after it is believed to have been set deliberately alight.

What started as a small fire at the back of the top deck of the bus quickly spread and before long, almost the entire bus was consumed by the blaze with a thick plume of black smoke rising high into the air.

The number 2 bus was travelling through Stockwood from Cribbs Causeway on Sunday afternoon when its driver realised the vehicle was on fire on The Coots soon before 4pm.

Firefighters were called and put the fire out. Nobody was injured or required hospital treatment but the bus was left a charred shell.

Police are now investigating a suspected arson on the top deck of the First bus and are asking anyone with information or if they remember seeing anything suspicious to get in touch.
