‘End of an era’ as Stokes Croft club finally demolished
A Stokes Croft club has finally been demolished three years after it closed to the public.
Work began on Thursday to tear down Blue Mountain club to make way for student flats, in what is being described as the ‘end of an era’ by those who called the venue their home.
Plans for a mixed-use site including student beds, office space and commercial units will replace the club next to the Full Moon pub on Moon Street.
is needed now More than ever
The 28-year-old venue was known for its student rave nights and drum and bass events, hosting DJs such as Caspa, DJ Q, Sharda and Jumpin Jack Frost over the years.

Owners announced they would be closing the doors in August 2020, after the building’s owners wanted to start work on their development plans for the site.
In a statement, the club said they had “exhausted all avenues to try to allow us to remain open”.
But the site has continued to stand for nearly three years, and was even occupied by squatters at one point.
The club became the face of a running joke among students when it continued to hold so-called ‘closing’ parties months after announcing it would be shutting its doors.
Now, however, only a pile of rubble and remnants of the Blue Mountain sign on one of the exterior walls remain.
