Explosion at Bristol school science lab

By Pamela Parkes  Thursday Oct 23, 2014

A man has been taken to hospital after an explosion at a Bristol school.

The 58-year-old lab technician was mixing chemicals in a science block at Bristol Cathedral Choir School in the city centre. He was taken to Southmead hospital with burns to his stomach and fingers.

Four fire crews, including the environmental response unit, were called to the school around 11:00 on Thursday.

The building was evacuated and crews used fans to ventilate the room.

Lessons have now resumed and no pupils were hurt.
