Faith leaders bless new hospital
Faith and humanist leaders came together at an event held at the new NHS Nightingale Hospital Bristol.
The new temporary hospital is part of the national effort to respond to the coronavirus health emergency, which will provide 300 additional beds if local services need them.
Within the exhibition centre at UWE Bristol’s Frenchay campus, the hospital will be ready to receive its first patients from Saturday, opening a small number of beds in the first instance.
is needed now More than ever
Prayers were said and short readings given at the short event, with all the leaders paying tribute to everyone affected by coronavirus. Leaders who are self-isolating joined the event online to give blessings.
Nightingale Hospital Bristol chief nurse, Hayley Peters, said: “I am very proud to host this important event and thank all our faith and humanist leaders for coming together to mark our new hospital.
“I know this will provide great comfort to many of our staff and the people in our Severn region.
“Our new hospital is just one part of the efforts being made all over our region to support our communities in this current crisis.”
