Familiar faces lend voices to new interactive trail around Bristol

By Martin Booth  Monday Jun 20, 2022

Sir Tony Robinson is among the voices featured on a new interactive trail coming to Bristol this summer.

Parker’s Adventure has been created to celebrate the 135th anniversary of Bristol Animal Rescue Centre in St Phillip’s and takes in destinations including the Arnolfini, SS Great Britain and Watershed.

Sir Tony – best known for playing Baldrick in Blackadder – stars as Parker the Dog, with other voice talent drawn from across Bristol including gymnast Claudia Fragapane, actor Joe Sims, musician Lady Nade, comedian Mark Olver and lord lieutenant Peaches Golding.

Other voices are provided by Great British Bake Off contestants Briony Williams and Giuseppe Dell Anno, as well as Bristol ARC staff member Gina Jones and volunteer Nancy Willams.

The trail involves following a map and watching animated film clues at each stop, with Parker’s Adventure originally the brainchild of Brislington’s Halo creative agency, located in Brislington, who have donated their time to help make it happen.

Sir Tony said that he is “thrilled” to be playing the role of Parker.

He said: “Our rescue dog has brought so much joy to our family and if I can help other animals get a happy home like ours has, then I’m all in! I hope everyone enjoys watching the films as much as we enjoyed making them.”

Bristol ARC CEO Coralie Farren added: “Bristol Animal Rescue Centre has been here for 135 years but to ensure that we can continue our vital work with Bristol’s vulnerable animals into the future, we need to engage the next generation of animal lovers.

“We hope that people of all ages will want to get involved with the trail and learn more about what we do.”
