Family release tribute to Melissa Mathieson

The family of 18-year-old Melissa Mathieson, who was killed in Knowle last week, have paid tribute to her.

In a joint family statement Melissa’s mum Karen, dad James and brother Alex said: “As a family, we are in total shock.

“Melissa was an amazing young lady who was always a pleasure to be around.

“She had a passion for music and was a lovely daughter and sister.

“We all love her more than words can say and she will be greatly missed.”

Remanded in custody

Jason Conroy, 18, of Savoy Road, Brislington, is charged with her murder.

Melissa was taken to Southmead Hospital on Monday 13 October with serious injuries but died last Thursday.

Conroy was remanded in custody and no application for bail was made.

A provisional trial date has been set for April 13 next year.
