Family’s frantic plea to missing mum and baby

By Chris Brown  Wednesday Dec 3, 2014

The partner and mother of missing Charlotte Bevan have made a joint plea for her to come home with her newborn baby.

Charlotte went missing from St Michael’s Hospital with her four-day-old baby Zaani Tiana 24 hours ago on Tuesday evening.

Despite a big police hunt overnight and throughout the day, there has been no sign of the 30-year-old.

She did not have any shoes on and was thought to be wearing hospital slippers when she left with her baby into the freezing winter night. She also did not have a coat and Zarnee was only wrapped in blankets.

Earlier, her partner Pascal Malbrouck, 37, and mother Rachel Fortune, 59, made a joint appeal for her to come home.

“I miss you. The last few days have been amazing and I want many more of these,” said partner Pascal.

“Please come home. I am waiting for you. You are welcome home at time even if it’s not straight away. Please just let us know you are ok.”

Ms Fortune added: “I love you. We have really enjoyed seeing you being such a good mother – let’s go forward with that. We all love you very much and just want to know you are ok.”

This morning, police cordoned off an area near the hospital after reports that Charlotte was nearby. But no trace of the mother or baby was found.

CCTV has been released from the hospital showing Charlotte carrying her tiny baby out of the hospital yesterday at about 8.45pm.

DCI Simon Crisp said tonight: “First and foremost, I want to say directly to Charlotte – you are in no trouble. It is not a crime for a mother to leave hospital with her baby.

“The reports we have from the hospital are that Charlotte is a good, loving mum who was due to be discharged in a few days. They had no concerns about her ability to look after her daughter.

“We are concerned for the welfare of Charlotte and Zaani Tiana because of the manner in which they left the hospital – it was abrupt and unexpected.

“She has also not been in contact with any family members as far as we are aware.

“I would appeal for Charlotte, or anyone who may be looking after Charlotte to just get in contact and let us know her whereabouts and that she and baby are safe.

“Her family just want to know she is OK.”

DCI Crisp added the search remained within the Bristol area and that it was still considered to be a missing persons investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
