Famous Stokes Croft club announces closure
It is the sad news that many of Bristol’s ravers have anticipated – the end to legendary Stokes Croft club Blue Mountain.
The team behind the much-loved venue officially announced its imminent closure in a statement on Wednesday, confirming that the doors will be closed for good at the end of February 2019.
This will bring Blue Mountain’s 26-year reign as a pioneer on the club scene to an end, and follows the news that Lakota is also set to go, as the club’s owners explore new opportunities for the prime site.

The impending closures will make way for redevelopment in an area of Bristol that is set for big changes in the near future – with the long-vacant site of the former Clockwork club next door to Blue Mountain also a prime spot for developers.
In the statement, the Blue Mountain team said: “To all the ravers, dancers, party people, DJs, MCs, promoters, students, locals, our hard-working staff and the lovely people of Bristol, it is with a heavy heart that we officially announce the closure of our beloved nightclub at the end of February 2019.
“Due to the ever-expanding demand in our beautiful city, The Blue Mountain is making way for redevelopment alongside some good neighbours in Stokes Croft and regardless of which side of the gentrification debate you take, we’re going out with a bang with some really special events.
“Since the day we opened 26 years ago, our journey to this point has been an incredible story, and we thank each and every one of you for having taken part in it, whether that’s on the door, behind the decks, the mixing desk, the mic, on the dance floor or staffing this wonderful venue.
“But all tales must have an ending and we promise you a finale never to be forgotten.
“So, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, keep a close eye out for all the events and closing parties coming up in January and February and thanks for the ride.”
The venue promises to go out with a bang and has a plenty on the lineup for the next three months, including a massive New Year’s Eve party with more than 50 artists on the bill.
But its closure will certainly mark the end of an era for many in the city.
