Soon after 6am, firefighters were dampening down the blackened timber of what used to be the roof of the building on There And Back Again Lane.

At the height of the blaze, eight fire engines were in attendance.

At 4.45am, Avon & Fire Rescue Service said: “We’re currently responding to a fire on Berkeley Avenue, Clifton, Bristol. We currently have 10 fire appliances on the scene including 8 fire engines, the drone unit, the command unit and a turntable ladder. Crews are tackling the blaze.”

At 6.11am, the fire service tweeted that “the fire has now been extinguished and resources are being scaled back”.

“We’re pleased to confirm no one was injured during the fire. The building involved is a commercial bakery and fire investigation will begin later this morning.”
