Fire breaks out at infant school
A serious fire broke out at a primary school near Bristol on the first day of half-term.
Fire crews were called to Yatton Infant School at 1.18pm on Monday and on arrival found “a significant fire affecting the school site”.
The cause of the incident remains unknown with a fire investigation due to take place.

Children aged from four to seven attend the school on the High Street in the village, with the fire appearing to break out in the side nearest the Co-Op.
Photographs taken inside a classroom by a crew from Clevedon show a very sad scene, with much of the ceiling appearing to have collapsed onto tables and chairs neatly tucked away by children just a few days before.

Nine fire engines were in attendance at the height of the fire, with crews from Clevedon, Weston, Blagdon, Nailsea, Avonmouth, Kingswood, Temple, Yate, Portishead and Bedminster attending the scene.
Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used 45mm jets and high pressure hose reels to extinguish the fire.
Crews were on the scene until Monday evening, with the High Street closed as they fought the blaze but later being reopened.

A statement on the Yatton Infant School website said: “I am sure you are aware of the devastating news that there was a fire at the Infant School resulting in significant damage.
“We are currently working with our Trust putting an incident plan together and we will be in touch in the next week to confirm where your child will be educated from Tuesday next week.
“Please stay away from the school site so the services can do their jobs. Just to confirm no-one was in the building.
“Thank you and please be patient with us.”
