Fire breaks out in St Jude’s
Fire broke out in a historic building in St Jude’s on Sunday evening.
Fire crews were joined by the police and ambulance service as they battled the blaze on Little Ann Street, with smoke bellowing from the Old Malt House at around 6pm.
A turntable ladder was used to fight the fire from the Pennywell Road side of the building.
is needed now More than ever
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the ground floor of the Old Malt House soon before 8pm.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service said that Sunday’s blaze was on the third floor of the five-storey building that is used as offices and work units for a number of creative businesses.
Around 30 firefighters were on the scene with six fire engines and a turntable ladder dispatched; and a cordon extending to the Swan With Two Necks pub.
Nobody was injured, with the fire believed to have been accidental and an electrical fault suspected to be the cause.
